CODE OF PRACTICE FOR FIRE PRECAUTIONS IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS
PART 5 : FIREFIGHTING STAIRWAYS AND LIFTS
This code of practice provides guidance for designers and the building construction team in providing firefighting stairways and lifts to assist the fire service in firefighting operations.
Some recommendations are also made with respect to passenger, goods and service lifts adjacent to a firefighting lift where they affect the use and safety of the firefighting lift. No recommendations are made for the use of any lift for the purpose of escape in the event of fire.
