This part of MS ISO 10667 enables the client to base its decisions on sound assessment results.
This part of MS ISO 10667 specifies the requirements of the client with respect to:
a) the needs and rationale for using assessments;
b) the conditions under which the assessment will be used;
c) the decisions about the assessment approach together with the implementation and evaluation of assessment procedures and methods;
d) the required competence and professionalism of the client’s employees who are involved in the assessment process;
e) the decisions about the access, use, and storage of assessment results and subsequent reports;
f) organizational-related decisions, e.g. training, team building, ascertaining organizational culture or morale.
This part of MS ISO 10667 also specifies assessment methods and procedures that can be carried out for one or more of the following work-related purposes made by or affecting individuals, groups or organizations, including, but not limited to:
— employment-related decisions, e.g. recruitment, selection, development, appraisal, promotion, outplacement, succession planning and reassignment;
— career-related decisions, e.g. recruiting, coaching, guidance, vocational rehabilitation and outplacement counselling;
— group decisions, e.g. training initiatives, team building, etc.;
— organization decisions, e.g. restructuring, morale and culture initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, etc. Close

This part of Malaysian Standard applies to joints in solid timbers fabricated with mechanical fasteners. These include joints fabricated with the following fasteners:
a) nails;

d) coach screws;
e) split-ring connectors;
f) shear-plate connectors; and
g) steel dowels.
For mechanical fasteners used in connections for engineered timber components (e.g. glue laminated timber or glulam, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), etc.), guidance is recommended to be obtained from their manufacturers on whether the joint design values based on solid timber are applicable for their products.
NOTES:
1. Design rules for specialised and patented mechanical fasteners and for variants of conventional fasteners are not included in this standard.
2. This standard does not specifically cover glued timber-to-timber or timber-to-plywood connections as occurred in fabricated components such as stressed skin panels or plywood webbed beams. In such cases, joint design can be based on the timber components in the connection, provided that the joints are fabricated using a rigid, durable adhesive. Phenolic type adhesives meet these requirements. The design of fabricated components comprising glued connections is therefore based on the fact that with correct bonding practice and quality control, a joint is developed in which the adhesive bond strength and durability will be superior to the components comprising the joints. Reference may be made to Appendix C3 of AS 1720.1:2010, for information on methods for assessing the deformation of joints. Close

The granular layers are at rest and experience only the relatively insignificant load from the weight of the layers on top. It is only when construction or in-service traffic passes (vehicles, trains, etc.), that these layers are under transient increased pressure and the associated strain that forms part of the instantaneous response.
During the short period of time associated with the passing of the transient load, granular layers undergo stress with both vertical and horizontal components, where the associated horizontal strains have a radial distribution, (see Figure A1, showing the distribution of the traffic load in all directions of the granular layer). The horizontal components of stress will cause the particles in the layer to move laterally and after the wheel has passed they will not recover completely to the condition before the load was applied. It is this cumulative lateral movement that will cause deformation and will eventually result in a condition beyond service ability of the layers.
The stabilization function addresses this lateral movement and inhibits the accumulation of strain, hence affecting the design life of the granular layer beneficially. Close

This standard proposes a test method for performing tension tests on geogrid junctions. The technique is such that clamps firmly grip the transverse ribs on each side of the junction. Then the longitudinal rib going through the junction is clamped at a distance from the junction and the system tensioned until junction (or rib) failure occurs. This forces a tension or shear force to occur within the junction in the direction of the applied load. The junction has no normal pressure on it, i.e., it is horizontally unconfined.
The value of junction strength can be used for manufacturing quality control, development of new products, or a general understanding of the in-isolation behavior of a particular geogrid’s junction. Close
